The HSE have fined a carpenter for the improper removal of asbestos from a property.
Mr William Rogers wrongly presumed that the asbestos insulating board in the property contained cement asbestos which does not require a licensed specialist to come and remove it.
Mr Rogers has been fined £600 and ordered to pay £1,799 costs for exposing himself and the tenant of the property to asbestos dust, which can lead to serious lung disease in later life.
It is against the law for anybody to remove asbestos insulation board without a license.
